‘In
1993 I was a milkman and developed terrible pain in both
my knees from jogging on my milkround. In 1994 had investigations
at hospital and they scraped my knees and washed out the
worse one. I had no relief. The pain worsened and I had
to give up my job as I could not walk without agonising
pain. I had another arthroscopy at hospital in 1996 and
was told that I had a lot of wear and tear in my knees.
In 2002 the Consultant told me that the first operation
had damaged and severed the nerve endings in my knees and
the only thing he could do was prescribe me medication and
cream to prevent pain. I tried orthotics and they gave me
about 5% pain relief, but I still could not walk properly
In
2003 I went to Wendy’s clinic. My wife was studying
to be an osteopath and had heard about Wendy’s work.
By this time I had been on benefit for 10 years. Wendy told
me that the cause of the damage to my knees was poor foot
mechanics and that my joints had both seized up as I had
been unable to move on them for so long. She made me some
temporary orthotics to prevent further damage and showed
my wife how to move my legs and knees on a regular basis
to encourage movement and gave me some daily exercises.
Wendy also treated me with osteopathy.
After
one session I was on half the medication and two months
later my knees were pain free enough to go to the gym to
exercise and strengthen them. In September 2003 I was accepted
into Hertfordshire Police. The photos of me show me on the
day I was told my application had been successful and I
have now started my new career as a police officer!‘
